This course will equip caseworkers with the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct accurate, ethical and culturally responsive family history research that strengthens identity, belonging and family connections for children and young people.

Identify the key documentation and information required to prepare for family history research.
Conduct family history research using appropriate online resources and evidence-based research methods.
Record and document research findings, including sources, discrepancies and barriers, using professional reporting practices.
Apply ethical and culturally responsive practices, including truth telling and a child’s right to information, throughout the family history research process.
